International Activities
BIS (Erstwhile ISI), since its inception has been very much active in international arena. ISI being one of the founding
members of ISO has maintained a very open culture to form alliances with many nations to promote exchange of
knowledge, participate in committee meetings, attend and provide training programmes which is continuing even now.
ISI as a founder member of ISO vide United Nations Standards coordinating
Committee (UNSCC) held in London from 14 to 16 Oct 1946.
The conference of the national standards
bodies at which it was decided to establish
ISO took place at the Institute of Civil
Engineers in London from 14 to 26 Oct 1946.
25 countries were represented by 65
delegates.
