TERRITORIAL EXPANSION OF ISI
As the standardization and certification work of ISI increased many fold, need was felt to open
regional and branch offices all over India which will provide a useful link between the industries and
institution. The Four Regional Offices which were erstwhile Branch Offices namely Western Regional;
Eastern Regional; Southern Regional and Northern Regional Offices were opened gradually
REGIONAL OFFICES
Bombay Branch Office opened on 16 Sep 1955 was located on the 4th floor, 40/40A Cawaji Patel Street
in the Fort area was. Now it is known as Western Regional Office (WRO) at MIDC Andheri East Mumbai.
Calcutta Branch Office was inaugurated by Sh. Manubhai Shah Minister for Heavy industries GOI on
26 Oct 1956. Now it is known as Eastern Regional Office (ERO) at 1/14 CIT Scheme VIP Road,
Kankurgachi Kolkatta
